chemistry behind alcohol de-addicting

Antabuse is a drug that is used for de-addicting the alcoholics. it is generally administered with out informing the addict.
                       
              

when alcohol is consumed, it initially metabolizes to acetaldehyde which is a mild poison and causes irritation. however the enzyme aldehyde oxidase rapidly converts acetaldehyde to harmless acetic acid. molybdenum(VI) ion act as co factor for this enzyme and assist in instantaneous oxidation of acetaldehyde to acetic acid.
antabuse drug coordinates to molybdenum(VI) ions through the sulfur atoms and hinders the path way by which acetaldehyde is rapidly oxidized. this cause severe unpleasant effects and the alcoholic is discourage to consume more alcohol.
