The major organic chemical compound present in the bay leaf is 1,8 cineole(eucalyptol).

Medicinal properties:-

Antibacterial antifungal antioxidant antidiarrheal anti-inflammatory antidiabetic insecticidal

Medicinal uses:-

Bay leaf tea is used to treat stomachaches, clear up mucus in the lungs, colds, and sore throat.
It is used to treat headache leaf of the bay is kept in a nostril or under the headbands to relieve this pain.
Traditionally it has been used for the treatment of gastrointestinal problems such as impaired digestion flatulence, eructation, and epigastric bloating and used as a diuretic and has many analgesic effects.
Bay leaf having anti-inflammatory antidiarrheal anti-diabetic properties due to this it is used for the improvement of the immune system.
It is used to lower blood cholesterol and uric acid level.
It is used to prevent infections from fungi viruses, bacteria, and protozoa.
It has better wound healing properties, bay leaf is also used as an insect repellent.
It is used for the treatment of skin rashes, earaches, rheumatism.
It is used to cure bad mouth odor.

METHYL ISOCYANATE (BHOPAL DISASTER CHEMICAL EQUATION )

REASON FOR ADDING GYPSUM IN CEMENT

upon mixing cement powder with water ,part of the tricalcium aluminate and gypsum dissolved and react together forming ettringite . the ettringite crystal on the surface of the cement particals are so fine that they cannot bridge the gap between structure .this is the basis of the delay in solidification upon adding gypsum to cement . if we mix cement with water without adding gypsum the tricalcium aluminate immediately reacts with water to form calcium aluminate hydrate . which fills the gap between the cement particals with large crystals and leads to very rapid solidification of the cement slurry
