CUMIN
Scientific name:- Cuminum cyminum
Family:- Apiaceae
The major organic chemical compound present in the cumin is cumin aldehyde.
Medicinal properties:-
Anti-inflammatory, bactericidal, fungistatic, antifertility antiplatelet antidiabetic antifungal antiparkinson.
Medicinal uses:-
ü Cumin has been used as anti-inflammatory, diuretic, carminative, and atipasmodic.
ü It is used in the treatment of toothache and epilepsy. also used as an aid for treating dyspepsia, jaundice, diarrhea, flatulence, and indigestion.
ü Cumin activates salivary glands in the mouth and facilitates the primary digestion of the food and produces carminative effects.
ü Cumin is used in healing the cuts and bleeding and is used as an antiseptic.
ü Cumin also stimulates the secretion of enzymes from the pancreas which can help absorb nutrients into the system and also increase the power of the liver, ability to detoxify the human body. anticarcinogenic property of cumin reduces the risk of stomach and liver tumors and also boosts the immune system.
ü Cumin is very rich in iron( above 66mg in each 100g) which is more than five times the daily requirement of iron for an adult.
ü It has vitamin e is good for the skin. It keeps the skin young and glowing.
ü Cumin is beneficial in treating weak memory or lack of concentration, insect bites.
